This site is dedicated to capturing and recording as accurately as possible, the history of the 1820 Settler Bruton family in South Africa,  from the arrival of Thomas and Charlotte Bruton in April 1820, to their current day progeny. The focus of the research presented in the site is intended to go beyond genealogical records and to provide a more complete history of the family containing as many photographs and stories as are relevant and supplied by family members.

Genealogical data is purposely clinical – born; married; died etc – BUT there are faces, histories and surely many interesting and wonderful stories behind the names and dates, that families may wish to share and preserve for posterity. It is these pictures, memories and stories that I need to populate and expand the history of our family in South Africa. Everyone that contributes can have their own photo albums and story books on the site and I’ll keep growing them as the data and photos arrive – we can leave a very full history for future generations if we all work together.

If you can, therefore, please assist - just write, fax, scan and email PLEASE – I’ll do the rest as the internet site grows – I’ve already had some wonderful and hopefully lasting discussions with, up to now, unknown relatives - as distant as they may be.
